Vineyards
The Shannon family has been growing Muscat Canelli grapes in the San Joaquin Valley for more than 30 years. Headquartered in Visalia, four generations of Shannon’s have operated a diversified farming company that includes wine grapes, walnuts, almonds and citrus. Today, Eric Shannon together with his sons Eric Jr. and Dustin, manages the day-to-day farming activities. Eric’s father Mike also remains active in the business.
The Muscat Canelli grape features small berries which are round rather than oval like those of the less noble Muscat varieties. Our Muscat Canelli vineyards are harvested while the grapes still retain their natural acidity. They are then juiced, cold fermented and stopped halfway through the fermentation process. The resulting wine is sweet yet refreshing. The acidity in the wine balances out the sugar, making the finish crisp and clean but never cloying.
As one of the few pure Muscat Canelli based wines on the market, Moscato Allegro has a unique flavor profile as compared to other Moscato value brands that are made with inferior grapes. But don't take our word for it -- we invite you to try Moscato Allegro and taste the difference. |
